The Redef double pack I ordered a couple weeks ago has just landed on my door step this morning. I was a little surprised by the fact that this record was actually pressed on clear smokey wax rather than the solid grey marbled wax all the online pictures seemed to show. But who’s complaining? Slum Village “Fantastic Vol. 1″ 2LP

I just purchased the official repress of Slum Village’s “Fantastic Vol. 1″ over the weekend released through Fatbeats and it’s been in heavy rotation inside the car ever since. Jaydee’s beats remain unmatched and sound just so incredible! An added bonus is the free 7″ that comes inside the LP when you crack it open. The free 7″ wax features an unreleased remix and an instrumental on the flip. Essential!

Apollo Brown “Clouds” LP

If you like listening to beats from producers like Ta’Raach, J Dilla, Kev Brown, you’ll definitely enjoy the mellow tunes on, “Clouds”. A limited pressing on orange wax. Highly recommended.

Diamond D “Hatred, Passions, & Infidelity” Instrumentals 2LP

Oddly enough this album is worth far less than you might expect in today’s market. I mean, you’d think given the success of his debut album and countless remixes and critically acclaimed beats that a Diamond D produced album such as his sophomore effort, “Hatred, Passions, & Infidelity” would fetch far more than the average $10 bucks!? Especially the promotional only instrumental version. It boggles the mind sometimes. Diamond D’s first album was an undeniable classic, but Hatred is definitely not a bad album in my opinion either. Who knows man. The music biz is strange.

Buckwild “Nineteen Ninety Now” Instrumental 2LP

The instrumental version to the new Celph Titled and Buckwild, “Nineteen Ninety Now” LP is finally here. The concept for this one is simple really. Dig into the Buckwild archives of unreleased heat which he produced sometime during the mid 90s-most likely made on the SP1200 and S950 and rap over them. Unfortunately for us Celph Titled was the chosen MC for this project hahaha, and not someone like Diamond D or Sadat X which boggles the mind on why they weren’t approached to do this album. But hey it is what it is. Thank god for the instrumental version though. Strip away Celph Titled and you get nothing but raw beats produced by the legend himself armed with filtered bass lines, punchy kicks, crisp snares, slay bells, and delayed horns for days. A must indeed.

Released a couple weeks ago on the Nature Sounds label-this special 10″ features new music from Blu with the standout cut, “Amnesia” which is constructed from a beautiful Billie Holiday Sample. Very nice stuff! Highly recommended.
